Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona Dhaoibh

Festive fish from the Galway farmers' market

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We are in Connemara this weekend.  My awesomer half and I have a book called Sacred Ireland that is full of megalithic sites, stone circles, and old friaries.  We visited the Moyne graveyard and in County Mayo and Annaghkeen Castle in County Galway today.

An early Christian graveyard in Co. Mayo (approx. 8th century)

Annaghkeen Castle in Co. Galway (14th century)

  1. You're back! Beautiful countryside. I love seeing the old ruins of bygone centuries, and wish to someday see them in person rather than through photographs.

  2. Hi and thanks!

We were actually trying to drive up to Sligo that day but every single town we tried to drive through stopped traffic for a St. Patrick's Day parade. Gotta love rural Connemara. It was raining all day and those little towns still had their parades. Kids wearing Irish-flag face paint and leprechaun hats, school bands marching around, fun for the whole family.
